Linda was born in Shelburne,
Nova Scotia. Her father and grandfather were self taught artists
who painted with oils. She has lived in the Halifax - Dartmouth
area since 1971.
In the fall of 1989 she began to experiment with oils and soon
discovered she was "hooked on painting". She has since taken several
courses and workshops to further develop her painting technique.
Linda enjoys painting miniature scenes depicting rural Nova
Scotia but also likes the challenge of painting a variety of subjects
on larger canvases.
Her paintings can be found in private collections from Newfoundland
to the Yukon, while her miniatures are located throughout Canada
as well as several other countries. Her work has been exhibited
in group shows at the Dartmouth Heritage Museum Art Gallery.
Linda is a juried member of the Dartmouth Handcrafter's Guild
and also belongs to The Dartmouth Visual Arts Society and Visual
Arts Nova Scotia.
Linda has hosted numerous shows on Dartmouth Cable TV, entitled
"Maritimes On Canvas". Her goal has been to encourage others to
pick up a brush and try painting as a hobby.
In addition to her art related activities Linda designs and
markets her jewellery and crafts at various locations throughout
Nova Scotia. Her home-based business "Artbox Creations" is in
its fifth year.
