"I came to clay after first being a painter (oil on
canvas). After learning to throw pottery, I realized that working
with clay fulfilled a need for a more tactile experience with my work
(i.e. I really like the physical aspect of digging in and "wrestling"
with the clay!). When I began doing tilework, it satisfied the need
for physical involvement, AND my love of drawing, color, symbology,
texture, and even a little pyromania (firing the work in the kiln)!"

"The inspiration for my work springs from my interest
in the endless cycles of birth, growing, fading, death, and rebirth;
and finding meaning in our place in the pattern. Living close to nature,
I witness these cycles and use the symbols of the natural world to
express small pieces of the mystery."
