Guy Melamed has always been in love with fire. An annual holiday in his native Israel probably cemented this passion for him. L'ag B'omer is the festival which celebrates the death of a great sage and mystic so the citizens celebrate the day with festivals and bonfires. That is Guy's memory of his youth: waiting all year long for this event so he and his pals could build the biggest fire in the country!
Over a year ago, Guy picked up a library book on the art of making glass beads. When he discovered how it was done, he was hooked and went right out and got all the tools and supplies he would need to play with fire once again. But this time in the comfort of his own home.
Since that day, he has spent as many hours behind the torch as possible and has created thousands of beads. He enjoys reading a variety of books available on the art of glass beads and has picked up numerous techniques in a very short time. He has certainly found his passion and this is evident in the beads he creates.
His wife, Blanche, is the lucky one that gets to create unique jewelry with Guy's beads. She is also the webmaster of their site, www.blancheandguy.com, and co-ordinates their presentations at shows and festivals.
