Here is the material needed and instructions:
1 1/2 doz. roses (short)
1 doz. carnations
10 stems alstromerias
6 stems wax flowers
1 1/2 blocks oasis
Spanish Moss
2 barbecue sticks
1 compote w-12" opening
Ribbon #9
1 #20 wire
After soaking the oasis, place in compote. Using a smaller compote will require less flowers. This can also be made in a flat container for a dining table, as the height of this one is too tall to see over. If you use a compote, place the oasis vertically inside and depending on how deep the compote is, you can then place a square piece of oasis on top of the other one. This is necessary to be able to stick flower stems in from the side. Secure the top to the oasis by sticking the 2 sticks into each corner down into the other oasis. If the fit is tight, you will not need to secure the oasis to the bottom. If you use a flat container, secure the oasis by hot gluing a little "table" to the bottom of the container and then impale the oasis on it. Place the Spanish Moss loosely on top and sides of the oasis. It is not necessary to pin the Moss on, as the flower stems will hold it.
You can start placing the flowers with either the roses or the alstromerias first, placing the longest stem in the middle and then placing the rest in more or less equal distances from each other. You can see I did not adhere to that exactly, which gives a little more interest. Then add the carnations and lastly fill in with the wax flowers.
Lastly, make a double bow securing it with a #20 wire and placing it in the arrangement.
You can also get a looser arrangement by using less flowers, but you will have to use more filler flowers.
Enjoy! Jackie
